Many of the following products were formerly available through our first business name, The Wren's Nest Fiber Arts Supplies website. We are converting all retail sales products to our farm business, and reserving The Wren's Nest for our workshops in weaving, punch-needle, spinning etc. Please be patient while this busy Farm-Her makes these changes. In the mean-time, please do not hesitate to call us for more information, with questions etc. Thank you!
Rare Herdwick-Cross Raw Fleeces - Unique, one of a kind and well skirted!
Helder~Herdwyck Haylie's fleece, 2014 - Hogget
Our freshly shorn Herdwick fleeces are each unique and definitely one of a kind. Hogget (yearling) fleeces are mostly dark, nearly black with some marbling of black, silver and white. These card to a gorgeous array of dark greys with shiny silver highlights. Each year, Herdwick sheep lighten in color, eventually reaching nearly white in old age. These color variances are what lends our special yarns their splendor of natural color. Ready for your felting or spinning projects. Each fleece is heavily skirted, and I specially select for those fleeces with characteristics most indicative of the Herdwick fleece. Other than a few of my ewes who bear "Herdwick Style" wool, I reserve my fleeces and those acquired from other breeders, for processing into beautiful roving and yarns. LIMITED SUPPLY! Hogget - $22.00/lb 2nd shearing on - $20.00/lb Unique Color - $25.00/lb

Our one of a kind, proudly produced in the U.S.A., Herdwick cross 3-ply bulky/rug yarn! Not available anywhere else in the WORLD! Our natural colored, uniquely textured yarn is specially designed for use in needle-punch rug making, rug hooking, weaving or for knitting and crocheting special outer wear or barn socks and mittens. VERY warm, this wool which keeps the Herdwick Sheep comfortable during winters at up to 3,000 feet in the UK, will lend itself wonderfully to keeping you or your floors toasty. Additionally, the natural grey colors will create a wonderful heathered, antique look to colored skeins for use in all your projects. Take pride in that your creations will be truly unique, one of a kind, and sustainably produced ONLY in the USA!.
Made from only American Herdwick-cross wool from less than 50 animals in the US, we use mainly 75% Herdwick cross fleeces and hand sort by color. This is our first ever batch and there is a limited supply, with the black Hogget being the rarest.
We will begin dyeing next year, to add to the variety available. In the meantime, you can add to the fun and dye your own! Specify shade when ordering.
